Welcome to John Harrison's Gallery & Tea Room set in the heart of rural North Essex in the pretty village of Birch. A wide selection of art work is on display for viewing. A range of items is also available for sale such as art materials, greeting cards, high-quality giclee limited-edition prints and original watercolours.

The Gallery is supported by a Tea Room where a selection of hot and cold drinks, cakes and freshly prepared panini rolls are available. The Artist John Harrison, also runs a thriving Children's Art School at the gallery.

Our aim is to provide a personal and professional service to all our visitors so that you return to visit us again, and recommend us to your friends and family.

The Gallery is accessible by foot, cycle, car, bus or taxi.

Hedingham Omnibuses run a local service (No 92), which runs directly pass the Gallery in Birch. Their information line is 01206 769778.

The Gallery & Tea Room is situated 2 miles south of Colchester Zoo and three miles north of Layer Marney Tower, just off of the B1022 Colchester to Maldon Road in Essex, England.

A hard standing disabled parking bay is available directly in front of the Gallery.

Assistance dogs are welcomed, bowls of water are provided.

The Gallery is situated on the ground floor and the entrance is via a graduated concrete ramp.

A selection of chairs are available with and without arms to suit your individual needs.

Large print menus and Gallery Leaflets are available upon request.

A full disabled toilet is provided.

The Gallery & Tea Room is open from 0930 Hrs to 1630 Hrs Wednesday to Sunday inclusive (closed on Monday and Tuesdays), except for a short break in summer and at Christmas/New Year (see closure dates).

No booking is required to visit the Gallery & Tea Room. If you wish to reserve a table you may do so on the telephone (01206 331363) or via the contact section on the web site (www.birchgallery.co.uk). Reservations are subject to availability.

Bookings are taken for 'Special Gallery Events', in person at the Gallery, on the telephone or via the website.

A small gravel car park is provided at the Gallery with a hard stand directly adjacent to the entrance for disabled and less-abled visitors.

The entrance door opens into the modern gallery main building with seating tables and chairs, a unisex disabled toilet and a serving counter. An open doorway leads into the 'Teaching Room'. A selection of art work is on display in both rooms and both rooms are on the ground floor with no steps or other obstacles.

A visitors book is available for your comments. If you wish to partake in the Tea Room facility a staff member will visit your table and take your order.

When the weather is fine outdoor seating is provided so that the rural views can be enjoyed.

In addition to the Children's Art School a full framing service is also provided and a full range of art commissions are undertaken.

Our unique venue is also available for private hire when not open to the public.
